Just received these Proudly South African photos from smg and had a good old laugh with myself. As pathetic as the supporter’s behaviour is, there’s something just deliciously homegrown about it all. For what it’s worth, it actually made me a bit homesick. If you look in just the right frames, you can see the bastard’s happiness plastered across his mug. Beautiful! Ok, so maybe a tad misdirected, but you gotta appreciate his spirit! He is positively burning up with rugby fever! He is Bok bevok!
And just look at Habana’s right elbow! Man, Brian doesn’t know when to quit! He’s still fighting for the Cup! That’s a bad case of the fever if ever I saw one!
It didn’t take much snooping around on the net to find a video clip of the incident. Here it is, featuring appropriate backing score, for your viewing pleasure. Hilarium!
On a slightly sadder note, in other major Springbok news, champion coach Jake White officially announced his resignation today, placing the blame for his decision squarely on the manly shoulders of Springbok bosses. You can read his full press release here.

What a disappointing moment for all of us! Casts a bit of a pall over the whole victory thing, doesn’t it? But what better way for Jake to skop it – you can’t possibly imagine a better time and position for him to walk out at and of with such a resounding “fuck you”. All he needs now is a deep, melodramatic song grinding away in the background as he barges his way through the press conference to scoop up a tastily emotional Jessica Alba weeping at the back of the room. A slow clap would definitely add to the impact of the scene. God, that would make great TV. I think Vince Vaughn would make a good Jake White. And Jessica Alba would make a brilliant Jessica Alba.
Well, Jake. It’s been real. Thanks for all the good memories and for bringing home the cup. All that’s left to say, I guess, is goodbye…and good luck. Sniff.
