She may not have been the oldest Golden Girl in real life, but she’s the first to check out.

Estelle Getty, who played meddling mother Sophia on “The Golden Girls,” died Tuesday morning. She was 84.

Getty, who suffered from advanced dementia, died around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at her Hollywood Boulevard home, said her son, Carl Gettleman of Santa Monica. (more)

Man, I loved that show. Those gals were a hoot. Dorothy was the cynic, Blanche was the slut and Rose was the dumb bitch. But they were fucking awesome together. And Sophia..Sophia was the shit. She knew how to lay down the smack in that house. My favourite episode was the one where the girls come back and find Sophia riding one of Blanche’s old dildos, and they’re all shocked at first, but then they get loaded on gin and metamucil and have a big old granny gangbang. Man, that was a great episode. I wore a hole in the VHS tape with that one on it. I can still see Rose removing Dorothy’s false gnashers with her tongue so that she can get gummed good and proper. Hey, old people are freaks too.
